Évian-les-Bains is a French city located in the Haute-Savoie department. It is known for its spa on lake Leman, it has a casino and several luxury hotels. Évian-les-Bains is famous worldwide for the mineral water exported through
the Société anonyme des eaux minérales d’Évian, a branch of the Danone group.

Hotel Royal

The Hotel Royal in Évian-les-Bains is rich in history, located in a charming place that was already well-known in the 1800s. Luckily, the hotel kept the cast iron candelabras that provided lighting for guests in the past. In the recent restoration project, the original lamp posts (all of different types) were entrusted to Neri by lighting designer Marc Dumas, who was in charge of the hotel’s lighting project, to be restored according to their original models.

The first intervention carried out in Neri’s restoration workshop was to separate the cast iron from the iron parts, which are usually the most deteriorated. Some posts were broken. Two candelabras from the GHM Foundry were completely in cast iron. We disassembled all of their parts. The restoration process included welding some of the broken pieces and reconstructing the iron components of the swan necks and brackets.

The original copper lanterns were also completely recovered and remounted on their posts. Lastly, all of the elements were carefully prepared to be painted by immersion and spray guns with a highly ecological process using water-based paints. Now the lamp posts are lighting the Hotel Royal again and furnishing its magnificent park.
