Trieste, piazza Unità d'Italia

The city of Trieste acts as a bridge between Central and Western and Central and Southern Europe, mixing Mediterranean and Central European characters. It is one of the most important maritime hubs in Italy. Its port was the main access to the sea for the Habsburg Empire.

Restoration of the original lamp posts in piazza Unità d’Italia

Piazza Unità d’Italia has been reshaped many times over the centuries. The current appearance resulted from the complete restoration that took place from 2001 to 2005, when all the buildings were restored; the concrete pavement was removed and replaced with sandstone blocks. The original iron cast lamp posts were restored as well. There are 8 majestic posts with suspension brackets, which were restored by Neri to bring their beauty back. They are unique posts that can be found only in the city of Trieste and were most likely created specifically for it. The ‘Light 500’ lantern was chosen to be positioned on top of the swan neck suspension.
