Sperlonga

Sperlonga rise up on a rocky spur protruding into the Tyrrhenian Sea. Due to its location, during the Roman Empire, in the area many villas were built, the most famous is the one belonging to the Roman Emperor Tiberius. The villa included a grotto decorated with sculptures portraying episodes of the life of the Homer’s hero Odysseus.
