The Irvine Spectrum Center was inaugurated in 1995 and, over twenty years, was gradually extended in 1998, 2002, 2006 and will be completed in 2018.

The plan of the mall is very varied and realistically reproduces a small European town. The central street is straight, but follows a winding route with deviations and intersections that lead to other directions.

There are a number of intersecting squares, each of which branches off into several streets, creating a variety of flows and routes that give life to the ‘town’.

One of the squares reproduces Arabian architecture, with mosaics, arches, towers and the Fountain of the Alhambra’s Court of the Lions.

A large Ferris wheel animates the square, dedicated to entertainment, also equipped with a ticket and information kiosk.

Meanwhile, a huge carousel animates the central square.

In front of the Cinema building, at Christmas, the square hosts a large Christmas tree, decorated with thousands multicoloured baubles.

Outside of the mall and its pedestrian area, the roads leading to the various outside or multi-level car parks are travelled slowly by cars, which always give pedestrians priority. The streets are rich in greenery and palm trees, perfectly coordinated with the central part of the mall.
