With the latest special lanterns illuminating Palazzo Pubblico’s portico, Neri’s extensive restoration in Siena is finally concluded.
As part of the municipal and Enel Sole project 1,230 post-war iron lanterns were carefully removed one by one and restored in the Longiano factory. Over the decades the lanterns became significant urban space objects because of their quality and the materials used in their manufacture.
After adapting the square lanterns, the circular fittings in Piazza del Campo were restored and lastly the lanterns in the inner courtyard of the Palazzo Pubblico were restored. Palazzo Pubblico is magical place that welcomes and hosts the horses of the most famous world’s equestrian race: the Palio.
